Join An Uptown Committee Today!
Uptown Columbus Inc. and the Uptown Columbus BID have collaborative, issue-based committees that are responsible for implementing projects and initiatives for Board review and approval. The committees meet on a quarterly basis and are as follows:
Prosper (or Economic Development) Committee (generally the first Thursday of each quarter at 9am)
Mission: To increase the number of businesses, jobs and the tax base in Columbus’ urban center.
Vision: Uptown Columbus is an active employment environment and serves as a highly productive and desirable place to invest and work.
Current Projects: Demographic profiles, investor outreach, business retention visits, business recruitment, vibrancy report, annual report, etc.
Play (or Events) Committee (generally the second Tuesday of each quarter at 4pm)
Mission: To organize and implement special events and activities that attract people to visit Uptown.
Vision: Uptown Columbus is the preferred venue for all major regional events and is known as an epicenter of arts, culture and music appealing to all demographics.
Current Projects: Friday night concert series, PaddleSouth, Riverfest, the Food Truck Festival, Market Days, etc.
Enjoy (or Environmental) Committee (generally the second Thursday of each quarter at 4pm)
Mission: To provide a safe and visually appealing urban setting with pedestrian friendly amenities and a vibrant riverfront.
Vision: Uptown Columbus is comprised of beautiful and well-landscaped planting areas, clean and safe sidewalks and streets and an attractive Riverwalk with an active water sports focus.
Current Projects: Clean Team, safety, security patrol, landscaping, signs, RushSouth facilities (for rafting, zip line, playground, splashpad), etc.
Inform (or Marketing) Committee (generally the third Tuesday of the quarter at 9am)
Mission: To promote and attract people to visit the shops, restaurants and attractions in Uptown. Also position Uptown as a place to live.
Vision: Uptown Columbus as a mixed-use center with a variety of housing options and a distinctive shopping environment with locally owned stores, restaurants and attractions.
Current Projects: Social media posting, website, shopping, dining and entertainment guide, business survey, etc.
