Light Up MidTown

  • 13th Street Columbus, Georgia 31901 United States (map)

Art enthusiasts rejoice!

Midtown Inc. is excited to announce its community project, Light Up Midtown, a celebration of unity and community through art. Art can be a catalyst to create energy and change. Light up Midtown is a special installation that can bring a new identity to the 13th Street corridor.

Starting the weekend of November 21st through December 21st, Midtown Inc. will bring a variety of permanent and temporary art installations to view in public spaces along the 13th Street Corridor, allowing for an easy and socially-distant community engagement. The permanent and temporary artworks curated in this public space exhibition will be placed in the façade of buildings along the 13th street corridor from 10th to 13th street. There are four permanent murals and eleven temporary two-dimensional and three-dimensional works placed along with the street's four blocks.

The event is a partnership between Midtown Inc. and Columbus State University. Hannah Israel, Professor of Art at Columbus State University, is leading the artist selection and curation on this project. The artists selected to participate are local and regional emerging and established artists. The chosen artists were prioritized because of their diverse backgrounds and ideas.
